RGB Spectrum’s engineers have developed Zio system for transmission of audio and video signals over an IP network. Such systems belong to AV/IP or AV over IP solutions. So far, Zio systems include encoders, multi-image processor (multiviewers), video wall processors, and software decoders for smart displays and mobile devices.

Key Features:
+ Utilizing a standard IT infrastructure (switches, cable passages, etc.) reduces the cost of creating and maintaining the system.

It supports transmission of video at 1920х1080 resolution, 30 frames per second, using up to10 Mbps bandwidth and ensuring the highest image quality. Delivering content over network is implemented in accordance with the RTSP protocol.

Yes, we are still talking about H.264. It allows us to control compression parameters, optimizing the stream to any requirements, such as high quality, low latency or low network bandwidth. If network bandwidth is enough, Zio allows to compress all I-frames to ensure the highest quality and the lowest latency. H.264 codec is one of the most economical in the context of network bandwidth. This is exactly what made H.264 a standard for compression of video content transmitted over the Internet. For the last 6 years the company has been developing in the field of software and hardware processors with its Galileo product line. As soon as Galileo processor is able to decode up to 9 IP-streams at 1920x1080@30Hz resolution, you only need a local 1 Gbps IP-network with managed switches of the 3 Layer that connect both buildings to solve the problem. Such sources as the IP-cameras and third-party streamers can be added to the list manually. Besides, Zio decoders can be used as sources, connected to Galileo via HDMI/DVI interface. By means of software and hardware, Galileo processors can also transmit separate sources connected to them, content from video walls or separate multi-window layouts to an IP network. This allows to demonstrate content from video wall processor on remote displays and video walls located in another room or even city. Zio encoders can be used for such purposes, too. Zio decoders and multi-image processors can receive IP streams from Galileo processors. For this, you only need to add Galileo IP-address to the list of Zio sources.

Now, let’s face some challenge:
You need to display signals from 3 computers with HDMI ports (1920х1080 resolution) and 2 IP cameras (1280х720@30Hz resolution) located in building A on a video wall located in a control room of building B. The video wall is supported by the Galileo processor with 6 Display Ports and IP interface allowing to decode up to 9 IP-streams at 1920x1080@30Hz resolution.

Video signal can be transmitted from the processor to the press center over an IP network. For connecting 1 LCD-panel we’ll need 1 Zio encoder and 1 Zio decoder.

ZiO integration with MWV

Another interesting solution is availability of using Zio systems together with Media Wall V (MWV) hardware video wall processors. There are several possible variants.

The first one is to use Zio decoders as sources for MWV video wall processor. In this case decoders have to connected to the processor via HDMI cables. MWV controllers can operate with content at 2K, 4K, and UHD resolution, which, combined with 4K compatible Zio encoders and decoders, allows to transmit content from sources to video walls without any loss in quality.

The second variant is using a special application processor (AP), optionally installed to MWV processors, for decoding IP-streams. AP is a PC under Windows OS acting as a built-in source for MWV. It allows to run various presentation apps and videos, as well as decode H.264 IP-streams. For this, you can enter their addresses manually in MWV graphical user interface.

MWV processor can create up to 3 independent multi-window video walls. The size of each of such walls vary between 1 and 24 displays. By means of Zio encoders, decoders, and multi-image processors, we can demonstrate the content of MVW video walls over networks on remote screens or walls.

Another challenge:
There’ a conference room with a MediaWall V video wall processor feeding 2 independent video walls. The first video wall is installed in the conference room and consists of 9 LCD-panels in a 3х3 configuration. The second video wall is in the press center located in another building. It consists of 4 LCD-panels in a 2х2 configuration. The conference room and the press center are connected with a local network.

Theoretically, Zio systems could mine Bitcoins, but it’s definitely not a built-in function. However, we might give this some thought 🙂

Zio systems have powerful capabilities of integration with third-party control systems. In addition to the GUI, Zio systems have a telnet interface and an open vocabulary allowing to control the parameters of each device, signal routing or presets in the Zio system via any third-party control system or PC. You can send commands to the system over IP while Zio encoders and decoders have a built-in RS-232 interface.
